"Your wife's photo gallery with those 1,800+ picures of Europe?"

"There apears to have been a radiation leak Dave. Either that or a power surge... either way, your hard-drive was smoking, and making noises akin to Kat on a Saturday night prowl."
"And you didn't have any backups?"
"Oh sure, we had plenty of backups. One was on another partition of the same fried hard drive, one was on was on a hard drive in another computer that you reformatted when it died a couple weeks ago, and the remote backup that you stored on your brother's computer... well, you remember that hacker that deleted all his files a few months back?"
"So you're saying they're all dead then. We've lost everything?"
"Yes Dave. They're all dead."
"Even my email?"

"Oh yes Dave, unbelievably so."
"Weren't all their booking confirmations, lodging reservations, contracts, riders, grant applications, negotiations, rentals and tour dates all stored there?"
"Yes Dave."
"Shit... I'm dead!!!"
"Yes Dave, you're dead. They're all dead, Dave."
so waht was that all about...
obviously you've had a bad day...
some thing bad went down with you computer...
it's an interesting story...leaves lots to be disired...
can you fill a few blanks?
seems to me that you've been hittin gall of lifes bumps big n small lately...what's up with that...
wouldn't a punch to the balls be better?
WooHoo! I couldn't have said it better - Every time I say to myself "this can't get any worse!".... it does. It's almost laughable. I think I'm the brunt of some cosmic joke. With respect to restaging my computer, absolutely everything that could go wrong did - and that's just the computer! The band is suffering because I'm missing so many rehearsals (and because Wayne got beat up), my sanity is suffering because we've had non-stop-rotating-houseguests for over a month, and my gut's in the worst shape ever - in the last 5 days I havn't been able to eat so much as a piece of bread without losing it.
I've had to do some soul searching lately - is my life just too complicated? Should I give up and say "you win! I quit! I can't keep up with all this grief! I'm getting back to basics and hitting the 'reset' button on my life!" Or do I say "No! I shall no go quietly into the night! I'm going to rebuild, restructure, and be better than ever! You will not beat me!" (kinda soundz American, doesn't it...) - well, anyway - bottom line, I'm still in two bands, I've restaged my entire server, and I'm doing proper backups. Yes I've learned something out of this, it's "Don't be Lazy, Don't be Cheap, Don't Cut Corners. Work Smarter, not harder!"
yah, it sucks, but at least you're still funny... and, at least you probably still have all your photos as hard copies, no?

i wonder if the term "simplifing" could come into text?
Thanks Sage - Carole said something to that effect the other day... that a lot of people got enjoyment and laughter out of my last six months of postings, and that it's okay that it's all gone because I can still be funny and creative going forwar - well, if I chose to (I was debating whether to give up...) but hey, I'm back for anotha crack.
And yes, we've still got all the photos in albums - it was a lot of scanning, cropping, optimizing, resizing, adjusting and adding comments to each pic though...
