Today, Chretien finally steps down

A decade - that's a long time to have the same leader... well, unless you're Cuba or North Korea... but then we're a democracy... Sorta. I must admit, ten years ago my vote helped Jean get in to office, but I figure all the good he did for this country was used up in the first three years, and he's pretty much benn skating through la-la-land for the past seven years. Despite my most recent federal vote, he was elected for another term... and I'm not so sure he accomplished anything since then. Well, fourty years and three terms is a long political career - power to ya, I have no doubt you'll go down in history as one of Canada's most influential leaders... even if you are a boob. bu-bye, thanks for the memories, don't let the door hit ya on your way out.

Chretien stands down after decade as Canadian prime minister
Chretien officially retires as Prime Minister
Chretien resigns, Martin to be sworn in as Canada's 21st prime minister

So now we've got a new boob running the country. Someone called Paul Martin. Sounds like a pretty forgettable name to me...

temperature rising...vision blurring...rage taking over...rage subsiding...pulse slowing...anger fading. Give him a break... he hasn't even been in office 2 hours and he has already appointed the largest 'western contingent' cabinet in the history of Canada - finally the wet coast has representation!
Yeah, yeah, yeah - don't get started on the old 'Finance Minister' stuff - As far as I'm concerned, he was just doing what Jean told him to, and I don't see any love lost between those two dudes. We'll see what Ralph Goodale does with his new post as Finance Minister before we kill anyone on sight, m'kay?
Having said that, I still doubt I'll be voting Liberal next year, but let's at least see what the boob does over the next few fonths...

Geez - this is so funny - but it makes me sick to...
CNN's take on Canadas new Prime Minister:
Canada gets pro-America prime minister It's ALWAYS about the Americans, isn't it... check out the CNN article - the caption on the picture of Chretien says "Chretien refused to contribute Canadian forces to the Iraq war.", and the whole article is full of American crap. Probably what bugs me the most though, is how stupid they try to make Canada look... "The multicultural ceremony included a purification ritual in which an elder from one of Canada's Indian nations dusted Martin with an eagle feather." ... uh, yeah... we do that because you can't buy vaccum cleaners in Canada yet - besides, we don't have electricity either, so we HAVE to dust with feathers!
