2004: Shaping up to be the 'wrong place/wrong time' year

So...
I'm not sure even how to put this... where to begin...
Everybody knows that my band Scarecrow Balcony has been rehearsing above a Harley Davidson repair shop for the last 6 or 7 months, right? It was a great deal - total lockout from 5PM to 1AM every night, to make as much noise as we want. Unfortunately, Ewen, the guy that owned 'Hawg Traders' and has been renting us the space (a really nice guy!) let us know last months that he has to close up shop, so as of March 15th we need to find a new place to rehearse. A bummer, but we've found a new place, so it's all kewl.

Anyway, any of this ringing any little bells in anyone's head yet? Anyone that perhaps watched the national news last night? Here... let me give you a hint:
Today's Vancouver Sun: B.C. Hells Angels indicted in $20-million U.S. pot case

Any more bells ringing yet? Well, MY PHONE rang last night at about 6:15 (while I was cooking a superb poached salmon with steamed vegetables) - it was Ron, our drummer saying "Scarecrow Balcony is famous! I was just watching the news, and they had a crew at some big grow-op, and there was a Scarecrow Balcony sticker on the door! And then I realized, whoa! That's our rehearsal space!!! And then they showed the affidavit, and Ewen's name was the first on the list"
Check out the picture in Today's Vancouver Province: U.S. grand jury indicts two B.C. men for allegedly smuggling pot - see the rightmost door? Three stickers - one's ours. Those windows on the 2nd floor are to our rehearsal pad.

So anyway - last night was a strange night at rehearsal... all the pieces started falling into place - like the hidden camera I found once. That was really strange, since Ewen doesn't have a surveilance syste. Or the fact that his trailers kept getting 'stolen' (um, confiscated?) from the parking lot - even though we've never had problems with our cars. It's just way too surreal.
But, as Carole pointed out, this really hasn't been a bad year for us being in the wrong place at the wrong time because in reality, absolutely nothing bad has happened to us - we've just been really close to a lot of bad things happening.
