Comments: Last night's Beastie Boys concert

You were in a pissy mood so anything would have sucked to you.

The beer didn't suck, it worked pretty well actually. The price sure sucked though... $25 for 4 beers.

What was I expecting? I was expecting it to not suck. Why did it suck? cause it was a bunch of grey haired, lime green Adidas track suit wearin' fogies limping around rapping uninteligable dribble to a canned drum track. I was in a pissy mood because the sound was so bad, we couldn't make out a single word - not one. Carole likes Beasties, but agrees that the sound was rotten to the core.
I wouldn't pay that much for a bear, but I'd pay pretty much anything for a beer... especially if it helps to numb the pain of being at a Beastly concert.

Yeah, we've played a lot of shows lately, eh? It has been really cool - but we're taking a couple weeks off now. We just decided that we weren't playing enough, so the whole band went out on the town and went to every venue and asked in person for gigs - half the places gave us dates on the spot, and half of them said they'd pencil us in for October or November. It was that easy.

Just thinking of the Beasties makes me pissy. But I'm okay now...

i remember when i won tickets to see snoop...
i gave the tickets to dr. k and he left after the 1st half hour if i remember correctly....
i can't see how a rap concert could be any good...
now if the beasties had play their intrumental stuff maybe...how ever i don't like going to see bands anyways...i'd rather be playing in the band...unless it's a friends band...then it's a different story...
i'd go see faith no more again though

Maybe if they had played one single hit I might have thought differently... the didn't do Licence to Ill, Fight for your Right to Party, Girls, No Sleep 'till Brooklyn, or anything else I've ever heard of ... oh wait, they did a crappy version of Savatage as an encore that they dedicated to George Bush, which I thought was totally awesome... that's right! I forgot about that! I thought that was a bold move, and respected them for slagging the President - even though the rest of the set sucked monkey ass.

looking down the barrel of a gun son of a gun son of a b*tch getting paid getting rich?

I think I would have thought the concert was better if I was with someone who also like the Beasties. You know, when you're with someone who isn't having a good time, it kinda brings you down...
Oh well, live and learn...
I must say I was disappointed that they didn't have any funky wardrobe changes or themes going like in their videos, and they didn't play most of the songs I wanted to hear.
I think with a rap concert like that, you need more visuals to make a good show. Some bands can get away with that, but they can't.
At least that's my opinion.
I did find the dog show very entertaining though.

i saw the beasties in 1992 0r 1993 at that spot in the pne that they now use for monster trucks... sonic youth opened (and sucked) and the beasties were wicked, excellent sound (nothing can go wrong if you stand next to the sound board at an outdoor show... i don't know why more people don't understand that), they played all the hits (they were only up to check your head by then) and they dropped a few songs from the then forthcoming "the in sound from way out"... totally wicked experience, which is why i avoided the debacle at the coliseum like the plague...
