Temp: 28 degrees
Today is another perfectl day in beautiful British Columbia. We're going back to the mainland this evening, so our activities centered around stuff to do in Nanaimo.
After the typical lazy morning routine, we packed up our stuff, and headed south. I've been to the Departure Bay ferry terminal countless times, but I don't think I've EVER actually spent any time in Nanaimo, so this was a new experience for me. We walked quite a way down the boardwalk in the scorching heat and attempted to find a geocache, but after about 10 minutes at the zero-coordinates, we ran out of time and had to leave without logging the find...
Why'd we have to leave? Cause we're catching the little ferry over to the famous floating Dinghy Dock Pub on Protection Island! It's only a ten minute ferry, but it was nice to be out on the water again. We're getting out on the water lots this year!
We spent several hours kicking back on the floating pub, chowing down on deep fried zuchini and mushrooms, bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed potato skins, chowder, and copious amounts of beer... oh, and for dessert, we had Sex in a Dinghy!
Afterwards, we went for a little walk through the Protection Island park, then took the little passenger ferry back to Nanaimo. Alas, all good things must come to an end, and we had to head to Departure Bay to catch the 'big' ferry back to the mainland.
A day in the sun and all those beers tuckered us out, and we ended up dozing off for most of the ferry ride, listening to our MP3 players as we snoozed. When we finally got home, it was almost 10PM, but was still 22 degrees. It must've been really warm on in the lower mainland today!
YAAW (Yet Another Awesome Weekend).
